What Does the Morse Code in Among Us Say?

Nobody has confirmed it, and it may not say anything at all. The beeps in the Comms room have no gaps between letters, so they can be read millions of different ways.

The Comms room signal

Where the signal comes from

In the Comms room, Among Us plays a fuzzy recording of high-pitched beeps that sounds like Morse code. In 2020, the blog Possibly Wrong pulled the pattern out of the audio using a spectrogram and got 24 dots and dashes.

Why you can't just look it up

Morse code uses silence to show where one letter stops and the next begins. This recording doesn't have those gaps. Without them, the 24 symbols can be split into letters 3,457,592 different ways. We ran the count ourselves and got the same number. Almost all of them are nonsense.

Possibly Wrong's author suspects it was simply made up. The beeps resemble the channel markers you hear on police scanners, and the author's guess is that the developers invented something in that style and left out the gaps.

The best guesses so far

Read backwards, the signal can spell VIDEOLATER, VIDEOREWIN or IRENEJRITTER, which the author wonders might be a developer easter egg. We checked and all three do fit the reversed signal. That doesn't make any of them right: with this many possible readings, you're bound to find words in there.
